Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Vaccination: Massachusetts state law requires that all pets have a current rabies vaccination, otherwise, we are open to creating an acceptable vaccination protocol for each individual pet's needs. We also offer vaccine titers.
Acupuncture: Dr. Bud Allen is here to provide acupuncture services and are IVAS certified.
Chiropractic: Dr. Bud Allen provides this valuable service to horses and small animals and is AVCA certified.
Therapeutic Laser: Laser therapy is an advanced modality for the treatment of inflammatory and painful conditions for dogs and cats. It is effective on conditions such as arthritis, pain, trauma, wounds, post-surgical healing, and inflammatory conditions.
Herbal Medicine: The Family Veterinary Center advocates the use of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of many afflictions. Our doctors have trained at the Chi Institute and participate in annual continuing education.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology: Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Dr. Allen is certified in PennHIP and OFA radiographs.
Ultrasound: We offer abdominal ultrasounds right here at our facility. Drs. Karlin and Allen have completed 2 years of diagnostic courses with Universal Seminars. Our cardiologist, Dr. Tai Casagrande, comes to our clinic once a month to perform echocardiograms.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
House Calls: Dr. Robin Karlin provides house calls to residents of Hampshire County. Please call in advance to schedule this service as we need to schedule this time around our in-office appointments.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Grooming: We do not currently have a groomer on staff but our technician is scheduling baths and shave downs. We cannot do specific breed cuts and our spaces are limited. Please call the office for our current available dates. We also offer tranquilized grooming (scheduled on our surgery days, please call the office for more information).
